Meet our Staff

Long Marston Preschool is very fortunate to have well qualified staff with many (some over 20!) years experience in pre-school education.  Penny and Anjie both have a NVQ Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education. The staff regularly attend training courses to ensure they are up to date with central and local government initiatives, which enables the preschool to maintain our high standards.

PennyPenny is our Preschool Manager. Following a career in accounts at John Smith’s Brewery, and following the arrival of her two, now grown, daughters, she started working at playgroup over 20 years ago. She successfully completed her Diploma, when her youngest daughter joined the group.
Penny is a lovely, friendly, caring person and a valued member of the local community. She enjoys spending her weekends socialising and feeding her family and friends.
Penny is also the Pre-school’s ENCO (Equality Named Coordinator), a trained Paediatric First Aider and has a Level 2 Safeguarding Qualification.

AnjieAnjie is our Deputy Preschool Manager. She joined our staff in September 2015.
Anjie has previously managed different childcare settings for 18 years, with teams of up to 12 staff, achieving Oustanding Ofsted inspections results and six gold Quality Assurance awards.
Anjie is our SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator). She has done several years training in Special Needs, and finds this aspect of her work extremely rewarding saying that ‘we gain so much ourselves from helping these children develop’. Throughout her career Anjie has worked with many outside professionals and is able to bring much experience and knowledge to our setting.
Anjie’s own children are now 27 and 21 and both doing well in their chosen professions, but she still sees a lot of the skills and knowledge they first learnt in their Early Years in them, which they have continued to develop since.
Anjie believes that every child is entitled to a happy, exciting, fun childhood and believes that Long Marston Preschool has a good sound ethos, with the children at the centre.

Mandy has been our part-time member of staff since 2007, working flexible hours enabling staff child ratios to be maintained through changes in the number of children and sessions attended over the passage of time. She is also a trained Care Assistant working with a child with cerebral palsy and a Governor at her son’s school.
Originally trained in Montessori Early Years education, Mandy went on to be a voluntary parent helper at Long Marston Primary School for four years, also working at the After School Club and as a School Governor. Mandy has gained her Level 3 Early Years Educator certificate to back up her many years experience working with young children.
Mandy has a teenage son who attended our preschool…

I walked in and saw the bottom end of the hall a foot deep in Autumn leaves complete with buckets, baskets, barrows and garden tools and knew immediately this is where I wanted my son to be.

…and she’s been here ever since!

We are very fortunate to have such well qualified and experienced staff. Their complementary personalities and skills allow them to work well together as a team, creating a welcoming, calm, caring and enjoyable but productive environment for the children and their families.
